I wanted a snowflake background, so decided to try and make my own 'embossing folder'. I started with some scrap card (300 gsm) and some small x cut snowflake dies which I bought in hobbycraft, for the bargain price of £2.
I measured two pieces of 8 x 8 in card and glued them together. I then cut all the snowflakes out, again stuck two together, layed them all out until I was happy with the pattern and glued them to the 8 x 8 card. It embossed beautifully (although it doesn't really show up that well on the main picture of my card, probably because of all the glitter I ended up using, lol.
To emboss my design onto card, I used the same plates I would if I was embossing my dies, e.g. I have the big shot plus, so the plates I have used are - The platform, adapter plate B, acrylic plate, my snowflake embossing folder, then my card I want to emboss and finally the rubber embossing mat and black precision plate.
At the moment I'm looking through all my smaller dies to see how many others can be used to make 'embossing folders.
Thanks for looking and any comments you may leave.
